Tonal Observational Drawing - Guitars
2015

This work was made in response to a call out by Jo Gane, Fellow at Birmingham Open Media, to describe a missing sculpture by artist Julien H Beck made in 1961. She held the accession record for the missing work, which described the sculpture as being made of walnut or mahogany, they weren't sure.

Two speakers, one covered in walnut and the other in mahogany veneer, present a spoken track describing the two woods' tonal qualities; visually and musically. A plinth, with a walnut top and mahogany sides offers headphones playing a guitar duet; one a Gibson SJ - 100 in walnut and the other a Taylor 324 with a mahogany body.
