A Drawing Attitude
A Drawing Attitude
Unpublished conversations
2013

This is a photograph of my father in law, Reg Carlier, jumping into a swimming pool. He is now 95, and still has the same adventurous spirit.
This image appeared on the front cover of A Drawing Attitude, transcriptions of conversations I had with artists Stephen Farthing, Anne Brodie, Kelly Chorpening, Jordan Baseman and Tania Kovats.

I read the phrase in a transcription of a Q & A with artist, Lucy Gunning, on her Residency at The Centre for Drawing, Wimbledon College of Art. Michael Ginsborg made the comment in response to her work.

What I gained from the conversations was an understanding of drawing as an open-ended media; where not-knowing is ok.
